This camera looks at the Baldegg water tower above the town of Baden in the canton of Aargau. It is a simple way to see how the town and the surrounding countryside look at the moment, without travelling there. The page also shows local time and the weather forecast for Baden.
Baden is a historic spa town in northern Switzerland, set in the valley of the River Limmat about twenty kilometres northwest of Zurich. Its hot springs were used by the Romans, and the old town sits on a steep slope beside the river. The Baldegg hill rising above the town gives it a sense of height, with wooded slopes and open views across the Aargau plateau. The town is a good base for exploring the Limmat valley and the Jura foothills.
The camera is named after the water tower, so it is most likely to show the tower, the town and the land beyond it. Views of this kind change through the day with the light: early morning often gives clear, sharp distances, while late afternoon warms the rooftops and hills. Clouds and mist in the valley are common in autumn and winter, so the view can change quickly from one check to the next. Depending on the view, you may see the town's rooftops, nearby trees and the sky over the Aargau countryside.
Baden has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool, sometimes foggy winters. Late spring and early autumn are often the most pleasant times for walking in the hills and along the river. Zurich is reachable by rail in about twenty minutes, which makes Baden an easy day trip. Other cameras in the wider area include views at Birrfeld airfield, the Stetten heating plant and the Bellikon rehabilitation clinic, all within roughly ten kilometres.
