Es Mercadal - Monte Toro
Balearic Islands, Spain — 0.8 km
🇪🇸 Balearic Islands · Spain — Altitude 337 m
This camera looks out from Monte Toro, the highest point on Menorca at about 337 metres above sea level. It is a useful window onto the island's central uplands and the sky above them, especially when you want to check visibility before heading out. The live player is paired with local weather and time so you can judge conditions at a glance.
Monte Toro rises in the middle of Menorca, the quieter and greener of the Balearic Islands. Its summit is marked by a Franciscan monastery and a small chapel, and on a clear day the view reaches across much of the island toward both coasts. The landscape around it is a mix of pasture, stone walls and low holm oak woodland, typical of the interior of Menorca rather than its beaches.
Because the camera is set on a hill, the most useful moments are usually the clearest mornings and the hours before sunset, when the light is soft and distant features stand out. Weather changes quickly on high ground, so cloud, mist or haze may roll across the view at short notice. Watch the sky and the horizon to get a sense of conditions before deciding whether to make the short drive up.
Menorca has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm, relatively dry summers, and the best period for walking is spring or autumn. The summit is reached by road from Es Mercadal, and the cameras at Cala Tirant and Es Mercadal are close by for comparison. Further afield, the views from Maó and Sa Mesquida show the island's eastern side, which is a different kind of coastline.
