This live camera looks out over the Han River, the broad waterway that runs through the centre of Seoul. It is a useful way to see how the river and its surroundings look right now, before you plan a walk or a visit. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link to the source.
The Han River, known locally as Hangang, cuts across southern Seoul and divides the city into northern and southern halves. Its wide banks have been landscaped into long riverside parks with cycling paths, footbridges and open lawns. Seoul is the capital of South Korea and sits in the Gyeonggi region, on a low, flat stretch of land by the water at a few metres above sea level.
The view is tied to the river and sky, so light and weather change it most. Early mornings often bring calm water and mist, while late afternoon and dusk bring warm light and city lights reflecting on the surface. Depending on the view, you may see boats, cyclists or joggers along the banks. Clear days make the most of the scene, whereas rain or haze can make it harder to see far across the water.
Seoul has a humid continental climate with hot, rainy summers and cold, dry winters, so spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons for riverside walks. The city has an extensive subway network that serves the river parks. Nearby on VizCams you can also open the Seoul Kathy Pub camera, about six kilometres away, and the Bucheon Korea Nature Live camera, roughly seventeen kilometres away.
