Vulcan - Piste de Pasul
🇷🇴 Hunedoara County · Romania — Altitude 757 m
This live stream looks over the Pasul ski slope near Vulcan in the Jiu Valley of western Romania. It is useful for judging snow cover and piste conditions before a trip, or simply for seeing what the mountain looks like today. The live player, local time and forecast are on the same page.
Vulcan is a mining town in Hunedoara County, set in the foothills of the Parâng Mountains in the southern Carpathians. The town grew up around coal extraction in the Jiu Valley, and its surroundings are wooded hills and high meadows rising toward the main ridges. The altitude here is around 750 metres, enough to hold snow for much of the winter while the lowlands are bare.
The camera is aimed at a ski slope, so the feed is most useful for reading snow cover, grooming and general visibility on the piste. Mornings after fresh snowfall often show the cleanest surface, while low cloud can hide the slope for hours at a time. Because the view depends on the weather, check the live weather block on this page before expecting a clear picture.
Winter from December to March is the main ski season, with January and February usually giving the most reliable snow. Petroşani, about nine kilometres away, is the larger town nearby and has the bigger range of hotels and services. Other cameras in the area, including the Parang slopes in Petroşani, cover neighbouring pistes if you want to compare conditions.
Mountain weather can change within a single afternoon, so the forecast matters as much as the picture. Wind and temperature at this altitude can make the slope feel much colder than the valley. Using the stream together with the forecast gives a better idea of what to expect than either alone.
