This camera watches the lower station of the Mała Czantoria chairlift at Poniwiec in southern Poland. It shows the approach to the mountain and the slopes rising above the village. Watch it to see how the hill looks right now before planning a walk or a ride.
Poniwiec is a village in the Silesian Voivodeship, set in the Beskid Śląski foothills near the town of Ustroń. Mała Czantoria is one of the best known summits of the Silesian Beskids, and the lower station marks the point where the route to its ridge begins. The area is wooded and hilly, with a mix of forest, meadows and small settlements along the valley floor.
The view follows the lower station and the start of the slope, so it is most useful for judging conditions at the base of the hill. Clear mornings tend to show the most detail, while low cloud or mist often sits on the ridge and can hide the upper part of the mountain. Snow and fog are worth checking in winter, and the green of the forest is most striking in late spring and summer.
The Silesian Beskids have a temperate mountain climate, with cold, snowy winters and mild, wet summers. Spring and early autumn are good times for walking, while the lift tends to be busiest on weekends and in holiday periods. The upper station of the same lift has its own camera, and the Ustroń town square and Równica hill are both within a short drive.
