This live feed looks out over Kraków's Main Market Square, one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe. It is a useful way to check how busy the centre is before you travel or to see the square's mood at any hour.
Kraków sits on the Vistula in southern Poland and was the country's royal capital for centuries. The Main Market Square, laid out in the 13th century, is surrounded by historic merchant houses, arcades and the Cloth Hall in the middle. The city is known for its university, its Jewish Kazimierz quarter and its well-preserved old town, which has been on the UNESCO list since 1978.
The camera is aimed at the square itself, so the image is most lively during the late morning and early evening, when visitors, horse-drawn carriages and street performers are usually present. In winter the square often has a Christmas market and lights, which makes the evening views especially atmospheric. Clear days give the best visibility of the surrounding facades.
Kraków has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Late spring and early autumn are comfortable for walking. The old town is compact and best explored on foot. Nearby, you can also find another live view of the same square from a different angle, listed in the nearby cameras section below.
