Oï-Karagaï - Escalier en bois, vue sur le centre de la station et les pistes
🇰🇿 Almaty Region · Kazakhstan — Altitude 1600 m
This camera looks down from a wooden staircase onto the centre of the Oi-Karagai ski resort and the pistes above it. It is useful for seeing how the slopes and the village look right now before you plan a day on the mountain.
Oi-Karagai sits in the Trans-Ili Alatau, the northern range of the Tien Shan close to Almaty, at about 1,600 metres above sea level. The resort grew around the forested slopes of the Alatau and is known as one of the easiest winter escapes from the city. The landscape is steep, wooded and quiet, with the mountain air noticeably cooler than in the valley below.
The title names a wooden staircase with a view over the resort centre and the pistes, so the frame is most likely the village core with the slopes rising behind it. Depending on the view, you may see skiers and snowboarders moving between runs, people walking through the centre, and changing cloud over the ridgelines. Mornings are often clearest, while afternoon cloud and snowfall can reduce visibility.
Winter brings the main ski season, and the mountain is generally best for snow sports from December into March, depending on snow conditions. Summer is cooler than Almaty and suits hiking on the lower trails. Nearby cameras on the same site cover the children's play area, the archery range, the Alatau trail and the panoramic terrace at the chairlift station, which help you judge conditions across the resort.

Weekend mornings in winter are usually the busiest and most interesting, when skiers arrive and the slopes are groomed. Clear days give the best visibility over the pistes.
