🇯🇵 Shizuoka · Japan — Altitude 1235 m
This camera looks toward Mount Fuji from the Grinpa area of Susono at around 1,235 metres above sea level. It is a useful way to see whether the mountain is visible before you travel to the Fuji Five Lakes region. Scroll down for the local weather and time.
Susono sits at the eastern foot of the Hakone range in Shizuoka Prefecture, on the southern side of Mount Fuji. The area is known for its open views of the volcano, its tea and farmland, and its position on the main route between Tokyo and the Fuji region. Because the site is high on the slopes, it catches a broader view of the mountain than the lowland towns do.
The stream is a live view of the mountain and sky, so what you see depends on the weather and the season. Clear mornings tend to give the sharpest outline of the peak, while cloud often gathers around the summit by the afternoon. Watching in late autumn and winter, when the air is drier, is a good way to see the snow-capped cone. Summer haze can soften the view.
The region has cool winters, warm humid summers and a rainy season in June and July. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable times to visit. Nearby cameras on this site include the FUJIYAMA Tower view in Fujinomiya, about 9 km away, and a view from Oyama, about 11 km away, so you can compare angles on the mountain before you head out.
