This live camera looks out over the coast of Lerici, a small town on the eastern Ligurian Riviera. It is useful for checking how the sea and sky look right now before planning a walk, a boat trip or a day by the water. The embedded stream is shown below with the local time and weather alongside it.
Lerici sits at the head of a deep bay on the Gulf of La Spezia, framed by pine-covered hills and a medieval castle that stands on a rocky promontory above the harbour. The town has long been a base for sailors and a quiet alternative to the busier resorts further along the coast. Its atmosphere is shaped by the water, the old lanes running down to the port and the terraced slopes behind. The Cinque Terre lie a short distance to the south, which is why the area draws so many visitors in summer.
The title points to the Venere Azzurra view over the bay, so the frame is likely to be dominated by water, the shoreline and whatever boats are moving across it. Depending on the angle, you may also see the outline of the headland and the far side of the gulf. Mornings often bring calm water and clearer air, while late afternoon light tends to warm the buildings along the front. Clear days in spring and autumn are usually the most rewarding times to look.
Lerici has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm, dry summers, and the sea is usually at its most inviting from June to September. Getting around the town on foot is straightforward, and the bay can also be reached by ferry from nearby villages. If you want to compare conditions along the coast, the cameras at Porto Lotti, Tellaro, Le Grazie and Portovenere are all within a short distance.
