About Cangkringan and Sleman

Sleman is a regency north of the city of Yogyakarta, on the island of Java. Cangkringan sits at roughly 400 metres above sea level on the southern flank of Mount Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. The landscape is a mix of farmland, sand and lava-rock valleys, and villages with traditional houses. The area is known for its volcanic scenery and for being a gateway to the mountain.
