This live camera looks out over the port of Hafnarfjörður, a harbour town just south of Reykjavík on the Reykjanes peninsula. It is a good way to see how the working waterfront looks right now and to judge the Icelandic weather before you head out.
Hafnarfjörður is one of the older towns in the Reykjavík capital area and has long been built around fishing and shipping. Its harbour sits at the edge of a lava landscape, and the town is known for its well-kept old wooden houses, its many elves and folklore stories, and its sheltered inlet. The atmosphere is calmer than in the capital, with a strong maritime character and views toward the open North Atlantic.
The camera is listed as a port view, so it is most useful for watching boat movements, the state of the water and the wind over the harbour. Depending on the angle at the time, you may see vessels at the quays and the sea beyond. Mornings often bring clearer skies and calmer water, while late afternoon in winter can show low light and dramatic cloud.
Iceland has a cool maritime climate, so expect changeable weather at any time of year, with wind and rain common even in summer. June to August offers the longest days and the mildest temperatures. Hafnarfjörður is a short drive from Reykjavík, and nearby cameras on this site cover Hvaleyrarhöfði and the Kópavogur harbour for comparison.

The current conditions and a 3-day forecast are shown in the live weather block on this page. Iceland's weather can change quickly, so check it before a harbour visit.
The local time is displayed on this page and updates live. Iceland uses one time zone all year and does not observe daylight saving time.
The camera overlooks the Southbank port of Hafnarfjörður, on the south side of the harbour, at about 2 metres above sea level. The map on this page marks its position.
Early morning and late afternoon tend to be the most interesting, when boats come and go and the light is good. In winter, the short daylight hours make the late morning the most useful window.
