Komló - Quartier Szilvási
🇭🇺 Baranya County · Hungary — Altitude 260 m
This camera looks out over the Szilvási district of Komló, a mining town in the Mecsek hills of southern Hungary. It is useful for a quick check of conditions in this part of Baranya County before a trip or a call. The live stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link to the source.
Komló grew up around coal mining in the Mecsek foothills, and its layout still reflects that history, with residential streets climbing the slopes above older industrial ground. The town sits at roughly 260 metres above sea level, so the surrounding hills give it a more varied landscape than the flat plains further east. Baranya County is known for its wooded ridges, vineyards on the southern slopes and the regional centre of Pécs nearby.
As a residential district view, the stream is most useful for seeing the general state of the town: cloud cover, fog settling in the valleys, snow on the rooftops in winter or the light at sunrise and sunset. Activity on the streets tends to be busiest on weekday mornings and late afternoons. Depending on the angle and weather, distant wooded hills may be visible on clear days.
Southern Hungary has warm, fairly dry summers and cold winters with occasional snow, and spring and early autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking the hills. Komló is reachable by road from Pécs, which lies about 15 kilometres away and has a larger range of services. Another camera in the region shows the town from a viewpoint, and a further view covers Mount Jakab in Pécs.
