Norden-Norddeich - Norddeich Drachenwiese
🇩🇪 Lower Saxony · Germany
This live camera looks out over the Drachenwiese, the open grassy field at Norddeich on the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony. It is a useful window onto the coastal weather and the mood of the seafront before you plan a walk or a day trip.
Norddeich lies on the low, flat coast of East Frisia, part of the Wadden Sea region in northwestern Germany. The landscape is shaped by dikes, meadows grazed by sheep, and tidal flats that change with every tide. The village is the ferry port for the East Frisian islands, and the wide sky and changing light are a large part of its character.
The camera shows the meadow and the open horizon as the weather moves in from the sea. Clouds, wind and the colour of the light change quickly here, so the view is most rewarding in the morning and late afternoon. Kite flying and walkers are common on the field in fair weather, though what is in frame at any moment depends on conditions and the view.
The climate is mild and maritime, with cool summers, mild winters and steady wind throughout the year. Late spring through early autumn is generally the most pleasant time to visit. The beach at Norddeich and the Norderney and Langeoog cameras nearby show the same coastline from different points along the Frisian islands.
