This live camera looks out over Alexanderplatz in the centre of Berlin, one of the city's best-known public squares. It is a useful way to check how busy the area is and what the weather looks like before you head out.
About Alexanderplatz
Alexanderplatz sits in the Mitte district of Berlin and has long been a meeting point for the city. Its open square is framed by transport hubs, shops and the famous TV Tower, which rises above the surrounding streets. The square has changed many times over the decades, and today it works as a busy crossroads for trams, U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines, and visitors arriving from all over the city.
What the camera shows
The view is tied to the square and its surroundings, so the picture is most informative during the day, when foot traffic and public transport movement are at their peak. Depending on the angle at the moment, you may notice commuter rush hours in the morning and evening, or a calmer scene in the late evening. Weather changes such as rain or low winter light also affect how the square looks on screen.
Practical notes
Berlin has a temperate climate with mild summers and cold, grey winters, so spring and early autumn are comfortable times to explore the centre on foot. Alexanderplatz is well connected by public transport, and the nearby Hotel Adlon, located at the Brandenburg Gate, is a short ride away. Other cameras in the wider Berlin area are linked on this page for comparison.
