This live camera looks out over the port city of Le Havre on the Normandy coast of France. It is a good way to check conditions on the Seine estuary before you travel or to see how the city looks at the moment. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link to the source.
Le Havre is a major port on the English Channel at the mouth of the Seine, in the Normandy region. The city was largely rebuilt after the Second World War to a design by Auguste Perret, and it is listed by UNESCO for that reconstruction. Its atmosphere is shaped by shipping, the wide estuary and the open sky over the sea, which gives the light a constantly changing character.
Depending on the view, you may see ships moving in and out of the harbour, the water of the estuary and the activity of the waterfront. Clear mornings and the hours before sunset tend to be the most interesting, when the light is soft over the port. Stormy weather from the Channel can bring dramatic skies and strong waves, which are worth watching from the stream.
Le Havre has a mild oceanic climate, with cool summers and mild winters, and it is often windy and damp in autumn and winter. Late spring and summer are usually the most comfortable times to visit. The nearby Musée Malraux, the Hôtel de Ville and the Fort de Tourneville are all within a few kilometres of this camera.
