Plougonvelin - Le Trez Hir
🇫🇷 Brittany · France — Altitude 5 m
This live camera looks out over the Le Trez Hir area of Plougonvelin, on the western tip of Brittany where the English Channel meets the Atlantic. It is a useful window onto the sea state and sky over the Iroise coast. The stream is provided by the local tourism body and embedded here with a link back to its source.
Plougonvelin sits on the Crozon peninsula side of the Iroise Sea, a few kilometres from the naval city of Brest. The coast here is rugged and exposed, with rocky shores, low dunes and wide views toward the open water. Brittany is known for its maritime heritage, fishing ports and a lighthouse-studded shoreline, and this stretch reflects that character strongly.
Depending on the view, you may see the sea moving with the tide, passing weather fronts and the changing light across the bay. Early mornings and the hours before sunset often bring the clearest skies and the most dramatic colour. Winter storms can bring powerful swells, so the camera is a good way to judge conditions before a walk along the shore.
The climate is mild and damp, with cool summers, mild winters and frequent wind year round. Summer, roughly June to September, is the most comfortable time for coastal walks. Nearby cameras include Le Conquet at Kermorvan, Lanildut at L'Aber Ildut and the Brest City Hall view, which together show more of this coastline.
