This camera looks out from the summit of Levi, the largest ski area in Finnish Lapland. It is a quick way to check snow and visibility on the slopes before you travel. Refresh the page to follow conditions as they change through the day.
Levi sits in the Kittilä municipality of Finnish Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle, close to the Finnish-Swedish border region. The fells here are low and rounded, covered in birch and spruce forest, and the resort grew up around the slopes that rise above the village. In winter the landscape turns white and quiet, and in summer the same fells are used for hiking and mountain biking.
The view is taken from the summit area, so it is well suited to checking the slopes and the surrounding fells at a glance. Watch in the morning or early afternoon when daylight is strongest. Short winter days mean the light fades early, and in the darker months the picture depends on lighting around the lifts and slopes. Weather in the fells can change quickly, so a clear moment on the stream is worth checking against the forecast.
Winters are long and cold, with reliable snow from late autumn into spring, while summers are short, mild and bright. The best time for skiing is generally from late winter to early spring. Levi is reached by air through Kittilä Airport, a short drive away. Nearby on VizCams you can also view the Glacier Express, the village and the Zero Point Levi Finland camera.
