Zlín lies in the Zlín Region of eastern Moravia, at roughly 238 metres above sea level, in a valley framed by the Vizovice Highlands and the Chřiby hills. It grew into an industrial centre in the twentieth century, and its modernist architecture, shaped by the Baťa shoe company, is a major reason visitors come. The surrounding countryside is green and gently rolling.
The title suggests a general city view, so the exact frame depends on the owner's setup. In clear weather, city roofs, streets and the wider landscape around the valley are the kind of scene worth watching. Mornings and late afternoons usually give the softest light, and autumn fog or winter snow can change the look of the town quickly.
Eastern Czechia has warm summers and cold, often snowy winters, so late spring through early autumn is the most comfortable time to visit. Nearby cameras include Visovice, Holešov with its parish church, Uherský Brod and Kroměříž, which are all within about twenty kilometres of one another. Kroměříž's large square and gardens are a worthwhile day trip.
