This live stream looks out over Klínovec, the highest peak of the Czech Ore Mountains and one of the best-known ski areas in western Bohemia. It is a useful window for checking snow, cloud and visibility before you travel. The page also gives you the local time and a forecast for the mountain.
Klínovec sits on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains close to the German border, in the Karlovy Vary Region. At about 1,244 metres it is the highest summit in the range on Czech territory, and its open slopes and spruce forests shape the landscape around it. The area is known mainly for winter sport, but in summer it attracts walkers and cyclists who come for the views across the border region.
The view is aimed at the mountain itself, so the best moments usually come on clear mornings when the slopes are bright and the sky is open. Snow cover, fog drifting over the ridge and changing light through the day are the main things to watch. Depending on the view, you may also spot skiers or hikers on the slopes during the season.
The Ore Mountains are cold and snowy in winter, with the ski season typically running from December to March, while summer is mild and good for hiking. Weather on the summit can differ sharply from the valleys, so check the forecast on this page before setting out. Nearby cameras show Oberwiesenthal and the Fichtelberg slopes just across the border, and Boží Dar in the Czech Ore Mountains.
