Local time UTC+1Checked 0 viewsHDMountains

This camera looks toward the Walmendingerhorn, a mountain above Mittelberg in the Kleinwalsertal valley of Vorarlberg, Austria. It is useful for checking mountain conditions, cloud cover and snow before deciding on a walk or a drive into the valley. The live player, local time and forecast are shown on this page.

The valley and its mountains

Mittelberg is a village in the Kleinwalsertal, a side valley of the Vorarlberg Alps that is reached by road from Austria only through Oberstdorf in Germany. The valley is known for its steep meadows, forested slopes and ski areas, and the surrounding peaks rise to well over two thousand metres. The Walmendingerhorn is one of the summits that give the valley its dramatic skyline.

What to watch on the camera

Because the view is of a mountain, the most useful thing to watch is the sky and the summit itself: whether it is clear, covered in cloud or dusted with fresh snow. Early mornings often bring the clearest air, while afternoons in summer can bring build-up of clouds over the peaks. Depending on the season and the view, you may also notice changes in snow cover from one day to the next.

Practical notes and nearby views

The Kleinwalsertal has a mountain climate with cool summers and snowy winters, so conditions at higher altitude can differ a lot from the valley floor. Summer hiking is popular from late June to September, and winter brings skiing. Other cameras nearby include Hirschegg Ifenbahn, the Kleinwalsertal Parsennbahn, Salober and the Kanzelwand and Fellhorn view near Riezlern, which together give a fuller picture of the valley.
