Krakau - Steirische - Klausen - vue vers le nord-ouest sur le Preber
🇦🇹 Styria · Austria — Altitude 1300 m
This camera looks northwest from the Krakau valley in Styria toward the Preber, a limestone massif of the Lower Tauern. It is useful for seeing how the mountains look right now, whether cloud is sitting on the peaks, and how the sky is developing over the valley.
Krakau is a quiet rural municipality in the Murau district of Upper Styria, set in a broad valley between the Lower Tauern ranges. The Preber rises to the northwest and is one of the better-known peaks of the region, popular with hikers and ski tourers. The landscape mixes alpine meadows, forest and open ridges, and the sense of space is one of the main draws of the area.
Depending on the view, the mountain ridges and the sky above them are the main subjects. Mornings often bring clearer air and crisp shadows on the peaks, while afternoons in summer can bring build-up of clouds over the high ground. In winter, fresh snow on the summits changes the picture noticeably, so the camera is worth checking before a planned outing.
The Styrian mountains have a continental-alpine climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters, and conditions at 1300 metres can differ a lot from the valley floor. Summer and early autumn are the usual times for walking, while winter suits skiing and snowshoeing. Nearby on VizCams you can also view Ebene, the Tockneralm lifts in Krakau, and the Sölkpass cameras looking north and south.
