Obertauern - Seekarhaus - gare de départ du Seekarspitzbahn
🇦🇹 Salzburg · Austria — Altitude 1812 m
This live camera looks over the Seekarhaus area in Obertauern, the high-altitude ski village in the Salzburg Alps. It is useful for checking how the slopes and village look before you travel or head up the mountain.
Obertauern sits at about 1,800 metres in the Radstädter Tauern range of Salzburg province, Austria. It is one of the best-known winter sports resorts in the country, set in a broad, open basin surrounded by high alpine peaks. The village is small and compact, built around its lifts and hotels, and its character comes from the mountain setting rather than from town life.
The view centres on the departure station of the Seekarspitzbahn, one of the lifts that carry skiers and walkers up toward the Seekar. The image is most interesting in the morning, when the lifts start running, and in the late afternoon, when the low sun lights the slopes. Snow cover, cloud and fog change the scene quickly, so the live view is a good way to judge conditions at a glance.
Obertauern is best known as a winter destination, with skiing typically from December into spring. Summer brings hiking and mountain biking on the same high trails, and the air is cool even in July. Nearby cameras on this site show the Seekar, Hundskogel and Hochalmkopf, which help you compare conditions at different heights around the village.
